Bone Broth: The Fertility Superfood You Didn’t Know You Needed!

When it comes to boosting fertility, most people think of vitamins, yoga, or herbal supplements, but there’s a secret weapon you might not have considered—bone broth!

This nutrient-packed, cozy cup of goodness could be the game-changer you’re looking for.

Here’s why:

1. Nutrient Powerhouse

Bone broth is like the multivitamin of comfort foods. It’s loaded with essential nutrients that support fertility, including collagen, amino acids, and minerals like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. These nutrients help strengthen your reproductive system and create an ideal environment for conception.

2. Gut Health = Hormone Health

A happy gut is key to balancing your hormones. Bone broth is rich in gelatin and glutamine, which help repair and seal the gut lining, improving digestion and reducing inflammation. When your gut’s in check, it supports hormonal balance, and that’s a huge plus for fertility.

3. Collagen for Egg Quality

Collagen, the protein responsible for skin elasticity and joint health, also plays a role in egg quality. Bone broth is one of the best natural sources of collagen, which can help protect and nourish your eggs as they develop.

4. Immune Boosting

Trying to conceive can be stressful, and stress can take a toll on your immune system. Bone broth is packed with amino acids like arginine and glycine, which have anti-inflammatory properties and support immune health. A strong immune system helps your body function at its best—including your reproductive system!

5. Rich in Minerals

The minerals in bone broth, like calcium, magnesium, and potassium, are vital for reproductive health. These minerals help support healthy ovarian function and improve the quality of your eggs, increasing the chances of successful conception.

6. It’s All About the Amino Acids

Bone broth contains a group of amino acids—proline, glycine, and glutamine—that are key for rebuilding tissues, including the lining of the uterus. These amino acids also promote healthy blood flow, which is essential for both conception and pregnancy.

7. Hydration for Hormone Balance

We often forget how important hydration is for fertility. Bone broth is a great way to stay hydrated while also providing your body with nutrients that support hormone production and balance, making it a double win!

8. Easy and Delicious

And the best part? Bone broth is delicious, easy to make, and can be incorporated into your diet in so many ways. Sip it straight, use it as a base for soups or stews, or even add it to your cooking for an extra fertility boost.

So, if you’re trying to conceive or just want to support your reproductive health, a warm, nourishing cup of bone broth might be just the ticket. Plus, it’s comforting, delicious, and a perfect addition to your wellness routine. Cheers to bone broth and fertility vibes!

My Easy Bone Broth Recipe

You will need:

  • 1 x chicken carcass/bunch of chicken bones/beef bones – get these from your organic butcher
  • 6 or so celery stalks with leaves
  • 2-3 carrots cut into 4 or 6
  • 1 x whole garlic bulb, cut transversely
  • 1 x whole brown onion, cut transversely
  • 2 x tablespoon of apple cider vinegar – this is important to demineralize the nutrients from the bone
  • 1 x bunch of parsley
  • 1 teaspoon (or more depending on taste) of turmeric
  • 2 x bay leaves
  • 4 x thyme sprigs – great for antibacterial and antiviral properties (can leave out though)
  • 5 x whole peppercorns – optional
  • filtered water
Instructions:
1. Pop all ingredients into a ceramic slow cooker
2. Fill to cover all ingredients with filtered water
3. Cook on high for 1 hour and then low for 12-48 hours
4. Drain and store – can be stored for about one week in a sealed container in the fridge

The best time to drink it is first thing in the morning before anything else hits your stomach.

Aim to eat a high fat, high protein breakfast around 30 minutes later and notice how your energy improves through the morning too.
