Easing a Tight Neck and Shoulders
UPPER TRAPEZIUS STRETCH
To ease a tight neck and shoulders try this Upper Trapezius M.E.T. stretch from our Osteopath, Dr Jacqui Quinn:
1/ Seated in a comfortable chair, sit on your right hand or grip the chair.
2/ Take your left ear toward your left shoulder as far as comfortable & breathe deeply for 15 seconds.
3/ Place your left hand on the opposite side of your head (as shown) & push your head into your hand & your hand into your head creating resistance. Resist for 7 seconds.
4/ Stop pushing & notice you can stretch your ear a little more toward your left shoulder. From this new starting point, keep repeating resistance until your ear is closer to your shoulder & your neck feels more relaxed.
Note: This stretch should not cause you pain, if it does please stop & consult a medical professional.
